For the Perfect Party, Bring Your Guests Outdoors

By Byron Jonas

For those with a small living space, or even those who just plain have a lot of friends and family, outdoor entertaining can be a great gathering alternative. A picnic table and a few chairs may be enough for some, while for others a more elaborate set-up may be required to incentivize the gang to come on over. Whatever the situation, here are some great solutions and suggestions to make outdoor entertaining a breeze this summer season.

To make your outdoor entertaining escapades even more fun in the sun, it may just be time to install that pool you've always wanted. A pool is an investment that will be used for years to come, and is the perfect way to keep guests happy on long summer days. A pool is perfect for day and nighttime entertaining, and perfect for guests of all ages.

For those cold winter months, a great stand-alone, or addition to a residential pool can be a hot tub. Adults love it for the relaxing, sophisticated entertaining quality in small groups. Kids love a hot tub for the bubbly water, and of course the ability to jump in and out of the cold, refreshing pool!

Outdoor entertaining just wouldn't be successful without giving guests something to eat, and nothing makes guests want to get outside more than a cook-out! Whether working with a permanently installed barbeque pit, or cooking off a grill, creating an outdoor cooking haven makes entertaining and clean-up easy, not to mention delicious, for groups of all sizes.

Speaking of cocktails, few home entertaining venues are quite as fun for the grown-up crowd than a personal outdoor bar. Stock up early, and make sure the bar is made of all-weather materials and presto! Instant tropical island-style entertainment. By running water and electricity, also entertain your guests with music, while keeping the beverages cool and the cocktails flowing.

When it comes to outdoor entertaining, not everyone is comfortable out in the lawn. Get up and out of the dirt by building a home deck or patio. A home deck can be as small as the size of a table and chairs, or as large as to wrap around the home. Make sure there is plenty of space to sit down, eat, drink, relax and play, and enjoy an extension of your home in the form of a deck or patio.

Today far more classier than what many may remember, the classic fire pit is a modern home entertaining gem, and a great place for guests of all ages to gather. Now available in sheik stone designs, fire pits are perfect for adults to chat, eat and drink, or for kids to hear scary stories and cook marshmallows and wieners.

When entertaining outdoors the most important thing to think about is what will make your guests the most comfortable. If there are lots of mosquitoes and bugs, think about adding a deck or terrace far above the ground. If where you live is cold, make sure everyone can stay warm. If where you live is hot and muggy, make your yard a summer haven. However you choose to do it, enjoy the great outdoors, and have fun too while entertaining! - 33386
